I provide HR Consulting and Business Partnering solutions to small-to-medium size businesses. Before venturing out on my own in 2012 I worked in Human Resources, Business Management and Operations positions in the Advertising, Branding, Digital Marketing and Information Technology industries following an initial two year career as an Educator.
After nearly two decades of corporate and business start-up experiences chasing profit margins I found increasing meaning in working to achieve the ultimate win-win: helping employers remain profitable at the same time as assisting individuals achieve their career goals, neither being at the expense of each other’s overall health and well-being.
This approach encourages employee loyalty and employee engagement, talent retention and talent attraction as well as ensuring that employers stay on the right side of the Labour Act, a risk-management strategy that pays off financially and emotionally. A big ask, but one I believe in wholeheartedly and constantly strive for.
In pursuit of this objective, I coach and train business owners and their talent, encouraging constructive proactive performance management and fair and respectful employee management.
This often requires the introduction of HR processes which build foundations from which to manage business growth as well as ensuring fair labour practice. In addition to ensuring that contracts are in place, job descriptions are bespoke with weighted key performance areas, policies are created in support of a flexible and agile business approach, I coach and mentor leadership practices such as active listening, communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and building resilience.
Sometimes the requirement is that I work directly with employees to improve their performance, assist with career planning or provide outplacement services to exiting individuals to ease them towards their next job. Whichever the focus area i.e. business owners or employees, I contract with my clients around goals, deadlines, scope of work, budgets, reporting and confidentiality.
